Let's face it: life sucks, especially when you don't have much money to your name. This goes double in the world of fiction, where those that have money always try to find ways to make things miserable for those who don't. Such things as The Power of Love and The Power of Friendship generally have no effect on them. As long as they have money, they can do anything... even get away with murder or crimes against humanity. Or Buy Them Off for whatever evil deeds they did commit. Or pay someone to be their friend/pretend to like them. Therefore, a wealthy person who adopts this attitude has a greater chance of becoming a Karma Houdini than any poor person.
