Eleanor "Nell" Crain (February 12, 1986 - October 28, 2018) is a major character in The Haunting of Hill House. She was the youngest child and third daughter of Hugh and Olivia Crain, younger sister of Steven, Shirley and Theodora Crain, and younger twin sister of Luke Crain, with whom she always maintained a strong emotional and physical connection since childhood. She was later diagnosed with sleep paralysis and suffered deep psychological trauma due to her troubled family issues and her mother's suicide. She was briefly married to sleep technologist Arthur Vance
