Laufey was the king of the Frost Giants of Jotunheim, and the biological father of Loki. While attempting to start a second war between Jotunheim and Asgard, Laufey was approached by Loki who offered him a way of murdering the Asgardian King Odin, only for Loki to betray and kill Laufey before attempting to wipe out all of the Frost Giants.
