Starting as an attempt by Eggman to create his own true Gizoid to counter Emerl, Gemerl eventually developed sentience and went rogue, desperate to surpass Emerl. This led him to encounter Doctor Finitevus, who upgraded him into a true Prefect Gizoid, giving him the codename, "Prefect Hydrax."
