It was released as the first single from their second album Sorry for Party Rocking in 2011. The single went to number one by the late summer of 2011 in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. It also reached the top five in Finland, Italy, Norway, Poland and Sweden. It is the best-selling single of all time in Australia. Worldwide, it was the third best-selling digital single of 2011 with sales of 9.7 million copies.[2] It is the third best-selling digital song in US history.[3] "Party Rock Anthem" is currently ranked Billboard's sixth most successful song of all time.[4] It is currently one of the 100 most viewed videos on YouTube, with over 2 billion views.[5] "Party Rock Anthem" is a mostly electronic composition. After being featured in the 2012 film 21 Jump Street, the film won the MTV Movie Award for Best Music.[6] The song also won the "Favorite Song" award at the 2012 Kids' Choice Awards.

Sonic and his team are now living a normal life in the company of Tails, Knuckles and Shadow.
