Doctor Ivo Robotnik, better known as Doctor Eggman (ドクター・エッグマン Dokutā Egguman) or Classic Eggman (クラシックエッグマン Kurashikkuegguman), is an antagonist that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is a human and Dr. Eggman's counterpart from another dimension set in the recent past, as well as Sonic the Hedgehog's arch-enemy. Like his counterpart, he is a selfish, self-proclaimed evil genius with an IQ of 300 who dreams of ruling the world with his army of Badniks. For all his brilliance, however, Eggman's plans are constantly thwarted by Sonic and his friends, who are always around to save the day. Basically a past version of his mainstream counterpart from his younger days, Eggman first appeared during the Time Eater incident where he teamed up with his counterpart to rewrite history in his favor, only to be stopped by Classic and Modern Sonic. Since then, Eggman has continued to follow his ambitions of creating Eggman Land.

This nostalgic low-poly 3D game is the last installment the Classic Sonic era before the events of Sonic Adventure could begin years later. Dr. Robotnik has unleashed his ultimate creation: Metal Robotnik, a colossal overlord determined to conquer the world. However, even this metal version of the mad scientist proves uncontrollable. In his quest for domination, Metal Robotnik infects the entire world with a virus that turns its inhabitants into his mind-controlled slaves. Amidst this chaos, Professor Gazebo Boobowski is assigned the daunting task of developing a cure. However, he finds himself at a loss when his daughter, Tiara, is kidnapped, and the Chaos Emeralds are stolen by Metal Robotnik. Now, it falls to Sonic and his friends to confront this formidable robotic titan, free the enslaved populace, and restore balance to their world. Can they stop Metal Robotnik and save Tiara before they become infected themselves?
