Bartholomew (called Nathanael by the Apostle John) was Philp's best truthful and honest friend who waited his entire life to meet the Son of God, the Messiah. One day, when he sat under a fig tree, he was told by Philip to "come and see" the Messiah. At first, he didn't believe that Jesus was the Messiah because Philp said he was from Nazareth, which was considered a little dump on a hilltop, and he wouldn't think the Christ would come from such a humble place. But after Philip brought him to Jesus, he called Nathanael "one in whom there is no deceit". He asked Philip what he said about him to Jesus, but Philip said nothing to him! Then, Jesus said that he saw him under the fig tree. At that moment, Nathanael finally realized Jesus really was the Son of God, as he said the moment he figured it out. Now he follows Jesus as one of the 12 Apostles.
