After her mother died reacting to a robbery, Vanessa's resentment towards Wonder Woman only grew, leading her to team up with Veronica Cale, who also had her own rivalry with Diana. As a result, Vanessa was subjected to an experiment that fused her body with a cybernetic exoskeleton equipped with bladed wings and claws. Vanessa doesn't believes Wonder Woman never understood the impact of her own image, nor did she realize she'd become an unattainable standard or see who was on her side. Their goal is to destroy the myth of Wonder Woman, expose the "farce" of her perfection, and prove that her ideal hurts real people.
