A historian fascinated by Greek mythology, Julia met Diana in 2001 when she approached her to buy an ancient Greek artifact. Impressed by the piece—as it resembled nothing she had ever seen—Julia made a deal with Diana to become her personal saleswoman. As she was leaving, Julia was approached by a mugger, but Diana saved her (in a scene that pays homage to the 1978 Superman film). Thrilled to witness a Greek goddess before her, Julia took Diana into her home. The feeling of finally having all her questions answered by someone who had witnessed the myths she had only known from history books led her to neglect her daughter, Vanessa, who grew up harboring resentment towards Diana. Currently, after Vanessa is arrested for a minor crime, Julia acknowledges her mistakes as a mother and tries to make up for lost time. However, Julia dies trying to fight off a robbery—in a scene similar to the day she met Diana. This only fuels Vanessa's hatred for Wonder Woman and leads her to team up with Veronica Cale.
