Back in the day, Persephone often split her days between her duties as queen of the Fairy Kingdom and a prevalent source of upgrades for the Skylanders, but with them gone, her main focus has been tending to her kingdom as it gradually loses its magic. When the heroes potentially find a way to stop the Magic Eater and save both their friends and Persephone's kingdom, however, she's happy to jump back in and give them happy power upgrades once more.
