Mary was raised by deeply religious parents in the Bible Belt, and grew up dead-set on being the most holy and pious there was: never missed a sermon, read the Bible front to back on multiple occasions, could always be found praying... So, coming to Skylands and learning she was a portal master was a total nightmare for her! Her, the most pious of the bunch, a devout believer in god above, a USER OF WITCHCRAFT? Unthinkable! She's so terrified of breaking her religious morals that she refuses to use her magic—but the Doom Raiders have nonetheless slotted her wirh Luminous in an attempt to seize the Light Portal's power. That is, if they can get her to stop brandishing crosses and having heart attacks about magic every five seconds.
