Rio's mother, a woman of Kayapo descent who lives close with her tribe and works heavily with projects to preserve their land. When she was young, she'd met and fallen in love with Rio's father, even preparing to marry him... But it soon became clear that he had no respect for her and her culture, seeing her solely as a wild animal to tame, and the two parted on terrible terms. Rio's father kept her existence a closely-guarded secret from Rio, but Rio managed to find her through some detective work, and the two have been seriously making up for lost time.
