Loveday Brooke is a fictional Victorian-era private detective created by British author Catherine Louisa Pirkis. Her adventures were serialized in The Ludgate Monthly in 1893 and published as a collection, The Experiences of Loveday Brooke, Lady Detective, in 1894. Often dubbed the "female Sherlock Holmes" she holds a place of historical significance in as the first female detective created by a female writer, and was introduced to readers during the peak of Arthur Conan Doyle's popularity.
