Born blind, Matthew Brennan has trained his other senses to operate at incredible levels. He doesn't have superhuman senses (although they are extremely developed), but he's learned to use them better to notice things, to tune himself, and to interpret. This has given him an understanding of tone, thought patterns, and humanity in general that extends far beyond other people's understanding. Then a group of government-funded nanotechnicians, led by Matthew's fiancée Odette, figure out a way to implant high-tech supercameras into his eyes and fabricate optical nerves that they graft into his brain along with advanced nanobots to maintain his cybernetics. Now Matthew can see a hundred times better than any other human. He can zoom, he can see heat, and he can see every pore and drop of perspiration on a human face from two miles away. Matthew's the first to agree to participate in the testing, but the government's gift comes with a great demand. He must become a soldier––a sniper and a spy. Matthew must use his eyesight, stealth, and his ability to read and manipulate human emotions. Matthew agrees to the first few missions, but then begins to realize the depth of government corruption, which leaves him with a difficult choice.
