Two U.S. Marshals, Teddy Daniels & Chuck Aule, are summoned to Ashecliffe Hospital, a fortress-like insane asylum located on a remote, windswept island, to investigate the disappearance of a brilliant murderess. As the investigation deepens, Teddy uncovers a shocking truth about the place, and realizes he will have to confront his own dark fears if he hopes to make it off the island alive.
