William Joseph "Billy" Batson, also known by his superhero persona Shazam, is the titular main protagonist of Shazam! Champion of the Gods. A street-smart and rebellious young foster kid who's good-hearted and heroic and is currently looking for his mother. After being adopted into the loving Vasquez family with other foster siblings, he's chosen by the Wizard to become his successor as a result of his "pure heart", transforming him into a super-powered adult—possessing strength, speed, and wisdom—by saying the wizard's name, allowing him to fight evil while maintaining a child-like perspective.
