Johnny Blaze, a fearless stunt motorcyclist raised by legendary performer Crash Simpson and his daughter Roxanne, faces his worst nightmare when Crash is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Desperate to save the man who raised him, Johnny turns to ancient occult texts and unknowingly summons the demonic lord Mephisto. In exchange for Crash's health, Johnny sells his soul, but Mephisto twists the bargain; Crash is cured of disease, only to die moments later in a fatal stunt jump. When Mephisto returns to drag Johnny to Hell, Roxanne intervenes, using her pure love and protective incantations to drive the demon back. Denied the boy's soul, a vengeful Mephisto spitefully fuses Johnny with the ancient demonic entity Zarathos. By day, Johnny tries to rebuild his life on the stunt circuit, but as night falls or innocent blood is spilled, he undergoes an agonizing transformation into the Ghost Rider, a fiery skeletal vigilante riding a hellfire-infused motorcycle. Driven to inflict punishment on the wicked with his supernatural chains and terrifying Penance Stare, Johnny must navigate a dark underworld of supernatural threats, defy Mephisto's cabal of dark minions, and fight for control over the vengeful demon inside him before his humanity is burned away forever.
