Jack Andrew Lowden (born June 2, 1990) is a Scottish actor. Following a four-year stage career, his first major international onscreen success was in the 2016 BBC miniseries War & Peace, which led to starring roles in feature films. Starring as River Cartwright in the Apple TV series Slow Horses since 2020, he has received nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Lowden starred as Eric Liddell in the 2012 play Chariots of Fire in London. In 2014, he won an Olivier Award and the Ian Charleson Award for his role as Oswald in Richard Eyre's 2013 adaptation of Ibsen's Ghosts. In 2013, he began to take on substantial roles in British television series and feature films, including The Tunnel (2013) and '71 (2014). He also had leading roles in the BBC miniseries The Passing Bells (2014) and War & Peace (2016). Other screen roles include the title role as golfing legend Tommy Morris in Tommy's Honour (2016); the starring role of Morrissey in the biopic England Is Mine (2017); a main-cast role as an RAF fighter-pilot in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk (2017); a starring role in the Scottish Highlands thriller Calibre (2018, for which he won the British Academy Scotland Award for Best Film Actor); Lord Darnley in Mary Queen of Scots (2018); a starring role as a plantation owner in 19th-century Jamaica in the 2018 BBC miniseries The Long Song; and as Zak "Zodiac" Bevis in the 2019 comedy-drama WWE film Fighting with My Family. Following the alien revelations in S.H.I.E.L.D., Clint Barton becomes Earth's lead operative tasked with tracking the invisible threat. Alongside Matt Murdock, Hawkeye launches an investigation, interrogating the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four to root out hidden infiltrators. Anchoring Clint through this is his long-time partner, Bobbi Morse - Mockingbird. Clint relies heavily on Bobbi's elite tactical intellect as they navigate the global deceit. At the same time, the world's greatest minds - Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Professor X, Hank McCoy, Reed Richards, and Hanky Pym - unite in a secret bunker, dissecting the dead Elektra's Skrull's biology to engineer a tracking method. The investigation peaks as Clint and Bobbi analyze their evidence in a safehouse. Mid-conversation, Bobbi makes an uncharacteristic, logical error, murmuring, "Fury is going to be obsessed, we cannot take this to him." Clint's instincts freeze. Realizing this is not Bobbi, he swings his bow and fires a point-blank arrow. She catches the arrow. They then have a fight in the safehouse. Though the imposter possesses Bobbi's physicality, she cannot match Bobbi's precise combat training. Clint overpowers and kills her, watching in agony as the false corpse of his lover bleeds out and reverts to its Skrull form. The tragedy immediately scales into a global nightmare. A breaking news broadcast interrupts the airwaves. President Theodore Kilgore addresses the nation, delivering a declaration to the cameras: "This world is ours." The Skrulls reveal they have infiltrated every world government. We get a post credits scene where the real Captain America wakes up groggy in a alien containment facility. Looking through the stasis cells, his jaw drops when he recognizes the real Sue Storm, Elektra, and Mockingbird trapped alongside countless other obscured global figures. Cut to black.
