Kingdom Come follows an aging Superman, drawn out of retirement after the catastrophic destruction of Kansas by a reckless new generation of metahumans led by Magog. As the world's heroes fracture into factions — Superman's reformed Justice League, Batman's distrustful Outsiders, and Lex Luthor's scheming Mankind Liberation Front — the elderly pastor Norman McCay is guided by the Spectre to witness the coming apocalypse. When a nuclear strike devastates the Gulag where rogue metahumans are imprisoned, the survivors must confront the true cost of their generational war. The story ends with hope reborn as humanity, not gods, chooses its own future.
