He was an actor and musician known for doing the score and theme song for "Shaft" (which made him win an Oscar and a Golden Globe) and for providing the voice of Chef in "South Park" (until he quit the show because they made an episode making fun of Scientologists, and he himself was one). He died of a stroke at age 65 on August 10, 2008.
