James Hugh Calum Laurie CBE (born June 11, 1959), known professionally as Hugh Laurie, is an English actor, director, singer, musician, comedian, and author. He is known for portraying the title character on the Fox medical drama series House (2004–2012), for which he received two Golden Globe Awards and nominations for numerous other awards. He was listed in the 2011 Guinness World Records as the most watched leading man on television and was one of the highest-paid actors in a television drama, earning £250,000 ($409,000) per episode of House. His other television credits include arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper in the miniseries The Night Manager (2016), for which he won his third Golden Globe Award, and Senator Tom James in the HBO sitcom Veep (2012–2019), for which he received his 10th Emmy Award nomination. Forced to abandon rowing during a bout of glandular fever, he joined the Cambridge Footlights, a university dramatic club that has produced many well-known actors and comedians. There he met Emma Thompson, with whom he had a romantic relationship, which later ended yet they remain good friends. She introduced him to his future comedy partner, Stephen Fry. Laurie, Fry and Thompson later parodied themselves as the University Challenge representatives of "Footlights College, Oxbridge" in "Bambi", an episode of The Young Ones, with the series' co-writer Ben Elton completing their team.

The episode opens on a dark Gotham skyline as we hear gunshots go off. A circus tent, a thug, a trapeze, and a boy. Billionaire and playboy, Bruce Wayne finds himself in a complicated situation. He knows he can't leave the boy alone. He has to help him find justice for his parents. He knows the boy can't be sent into the system, so he helps. 7 years later, 20 year old Dick Grayson has found himself in a tough situation. He knows if he tries to escape the warehouse he's trapped in they'll kill Barbara, but if he doesn't get out, an entire crowd of people will be victims of a bombing on the Gotham City Bank. Dick looks around for a way to get out but to also prevent them from shooting her. He knows there's only one gunman on the inside of the warehouse with a clear shot on Barbara as she's tied to a pole outside the warehouse with another man standing with her. Roman Sionis warns Dick not to try anything but he can't just let this happen. As he's about to try to move suddenly a smoke bomb is dropped and out of the shadows Dick sees someone taking out every man. It's The Batman, who already took out the gunman and the man standing with Barbara. They make it back to the warehouse where Dick tries to complain about Bruce never trusting him but Bruce announces he's found a new Robin and Dick needs to move on with his life and try to be normal. Dick, unnerved throws down his uniform and leaves.
