Robert's Rebellion, also known as the War of the Usurper, was a civil war in the A Song of Ice and Fire universe that overthrew the Targaryen dynasty. It was sparked when Crown Prince Rhaegar Targaryen disappeared with Lyanna Stark, prompting her brother Brandon and father Rickard to go to King's Landing, where the "Mad King" Aerys II brutally executed them.
