Backrooms is a semi-anthological web series created by American YouTuber and filmmaker Kane Parsons. An adaptation of the "Backrooms" creepypasta, the series primarily revolves around Async, a fictional research institute that discovers the Backrooms and attempts to document and research it.
The series debuted in 2022 with the short film The Backrooms (Found Footage), and has reached 79 million views as of May 2026; it was credited with creating a surge of popularity and renewed interest in the creepypasta and was praised for its visual effects and horror. Following the short film, Parsons would create 23 more short films, culminating in a web series. In January 2023, the series entered a hiatus that lasted until a new installment premiered in September 2024.
A film adaptation, with Parsons directing and A24 distributing, was released on May 29, 2026.
