Wellington Menezes de Oliveira (Rio de Janeiro, July 13, 1987 – Rio de Janeiro, April 7, 2011), 23 years old, was a student at the Tasso da Silveira Municipal School until the 8th grade (currently 9th grade). Wellington was the adopted son of Dicéa Menezes de Oliveira, the youngest of five siblings, and was adopted as a baby. His biological mother suffered from mental health problems and even attempted suicide. He is described by family and acquaintances as a quiet, shy, introverted young man who didn't get into trouble or disrespect rules. His adoptive mother, who died in 2010, was a Jehovah's Witness; Wellington also attended the religion, but never became a member. He was a quiet, shy person and spent much of his time browsing the internet.
