Isaiah Washington IV (born August 3, 1963) is an American actor and internet personality. Following a series of film appearances, he came to prominence for portraying Dr. Preston Burke in the first three seasons of the series Grey's Anatomy from 2005 to 2007. Washington began his career collaborating with director Spike Lee on the films Crooklyn (1994), Clockers (1995), Girl 6 (1996), and Get on the Bus (1996). He also appeared in the films Love Jones (1997), Bulworth (1998), True Crime (1999), Romeo Must Die (2000), Exit Wounds (2001), Ghost Ship (2002), and Hollywood Homicide (2003). In 2005, Washington landed his breakthrough role as Preston Burke on Grey's Anatomy. He was dismissed after the third season over allegations that he used homophobic slurs, although he would return for a guest appearance in 2014. From 2014 to 2018, Washington portrayed Thelonious Jaha on The CW's science fiction television series The 100. In 2020, Washington became the host of a travel cooking show on Fox Nation. Razor in the Dark is a 2027 American urban fantasy action thriller film based on the Mortal Kombat character Kitana created by Ed Boon, produced by Legendary Pictures and The Stone Quarry and distributed by New Line Cinema. It is the first installment in the Mortal Kombat Tournament Universe. Directed by Matthew Vaughn from a screenplay by Boon, Simon McQuoid, and Jeremy Slater, the film stars Paris Jackson as Kitana, alongside Elle Fanning, Milla Jovovich, Isaiah Washington, Kevin Durand, Jensen Ackles, Brian Tee, Mark Dacascos, Ben Wang, Laurence Fishburne, Keanu Reeves, and Alexander Skarsgård. In the film, a self-imposed exiled Kitana, who has earned a reputation as an assassin, reluctantly comes out of hiding to fight against her evil stepfather Shao Kahn's quest to wipe out all realms and rebuild them in his own image after she is approached by Raiden and later discovers herself to have been chosen by the Elder Gods to fight. Razor in the Dark had its world premiere at the 84th Venice International Film Festival on November 1st, 2027; opening in theaters on November 25th, the film received generally positive reviews from fans and critics alike, who praised Jackson's performance and grounded take on several characters, as well as its action sequences and reimagining of the central character's origin. It was also a box-office success, becoming the highest-grossing Mortal Kombat film of all time after it earned $716 million worldwide. A sequel entitled Mortal Kombat: Champion of the Gods was released one year later.
