Ranma 1/2 is a comedy anime/manga series about Ranma Saotome, a martial arts prodigy who transforms into a girl when splashed with cold water, and back into a boy with hot water. This unique curse is a result of an accident during a training trip in China, where he fell into a cursed spring. The story revolves around his engagement to Akane Tendo, a tomboyish martial artist, and the various challenges and comedic situations that arise from his transformation and the ensuing romantic entanglements.
