Teyonah Parris (/tiˈɒnə/ tee-ON-ə; born September 22, 1987) is an American actress. A graduate of Juilliard School, she began acting in 2010. Her first prominent roles were in the drama series Mad Men (2012–2015) and in the independent film Dear White People (2014). She then appeared in the drama series Empire (2014), Spike Lee's crime comedy Chi-Raq (2015), and the drama film If Beale Street Could Talk(2018). In 2021, Parris starred in the horror film Candyman and began portraying Monica Rambeau in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with the Disney+ series WandaVision. It has been a year since the Battle of Endor. The Rebel Alliance has regrouped on Chandrila, with Mon Mothma working tirelessly to form what will soon become the New Republic. However, in the wake of her efforts, the Empire continues to wage war on the Republic; taking over star systems, stripping them of their resources, and, most importantly, their freedom. Grand Admiral Rae Sloane, the new leader of the Galactic Empire, mobilizes the remaining admirals and officers to the planet Kuat. As a result, Mon Mothma sends her three most trusted confidants: Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo to investigate the pressing manner. The famed trio travels across numerous worlds, encountering dangerous smugglers, ruthless gangsters, and war-torn planets in search of the source behind these attacks. But as they draw closer to the truth, one question remains: do they truly want to know what’s waiting at the end?
