The main character of the show. Richard Joesph "R.J." Decker is a one-time fashion photographer turned photojournalist for the Miami Herald, until he found himself photographing the rotten corpse of Maya Gregory, which led to him leaving the newspaper out of disdain. Afterwards, he found himself in massive trouble, after beating up the step-son of Florida State senator Victor Ochoa and serving an eighteen month sentence in Apalachee. Blessed with a short temper and a cynical outlook, Decker's time in prison helped him quell his inner rage and mellow out as a person. Upon finishing his sentence in Apalachee, Decker started over as a private investigator, taking on various cases from the slightly odd to outright bizarre in Fort Lauderlade.
