Once voted the homecoming queen and prom queen of Woodforest Heights High School, Velma set out to fulfill her dreams of becoming both a high-fashion model and country music singer. Talented as she is, her skill at the things she does leaves her with something of a superiority complex which is shattered by the time the Hammerskins hijack 713. As the crisis escalates, a sense of justice and compassion bursts out as she helps her ex-competitor Jackie overpower the hijackers and then Doctor Kakirov in tending to the wounded as they try to land safely.
