Mr. Boogedy is a fictional character and the titular antagonist of the eponymous made-for-TV movie series of the same name that premiered on The Disney Sunday Movie in 1986 and 1987 respectively.
Boogedy was originally an English pilgrim from the 17th Century living in the town of Lucifer Falls, Maine whose name was William Hanover. He was a cruel and grouchy child-hating man and despised all forms of fun and merriment. And whenever he saw children playing, he would scare them away by shouting, "BOOGEDY, BOOGEDY, BOOGEDY!!!" This odious habit of his led to him being given the sobriquet of "Mr. Boogedy" by the townspeople.
Hanover fell in love with a beautiful woman named Widow Marion, but she did not reciprocate his love and refused to marry him. Desperate to win her hand, he sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for a magical cloak that gave him various magic powers. Boogedy kidnapped Marion's young son Jonathan and tried to use him for blackmail into forcing Marion to marry him, but his attempt at using further magic caused an explosion which killed himself, Jonathan, and Marion, and the three of them remained in what was originally his house as ghosts.
