The planet Arcaydia is known for its deep underground mines filled with power stones. Power stones are powerful gems that consistently shine bright due to being imbued by the pure energy of the morphing grid. Arcaydia's planetary kingdom and its people have closely guarded the stones for millennia so that their extraordinary power does not fall into the wrong hands. But all that changes when the Arcaydian King's jealous and power hungry younger brother Gadlan teams up with the villainous Emperor Yazden to invade the planet and pillage its supply of power. With the power of the power stones, they are able to make planet after planet fall on its knees before the might of their evil empire. But their supply of power stones has run low and if they want to continue their conquest of the universe, they are going to have to go to the only other source of power stones in the known universe: Earth. Unfortunately for them that won't be as easy as they thought it would be. The Arcadian princess Luminara was able to escape the planet during its invasion and team up with allies Dimitria and Alpha 6. Together they are able to recruit a new group of power rangers into the latest version of the League of Light, an ancient order dedicated to protecting the universe from the forces of darkness. The rangers must protect the city of South Harbor (which was unknowingly built on top of Earth's supply of power stones) and the rest of the universe from this ancient evil empire.
