Chespin was born from an egg found abandoned by Chesnaught. Initially, Chesnaught had wanted to raise the egg with Greninja, but when Greninja admitted that she wasn't ready for a child just yet, they put the egg in Pawmot's care. At the end of Pawmot's story, the egg hatches in a healthy Chespin, who Pawmot then raises as their own child. They're a chipper and curious young Pokemon who often helps out at their parent's clinic however they can, and wants to be just like Pawmot when they're older.
