The child of King Empoleon, Empoleon didn’t want Piplup to be spoiled so he raised Piplup to be fair, but Piplup grew up to be very morose and lonely, Shinx is their adopted brother and only friend. One day, Piplup and Shinx snuck out of their house to explore, but Shinx gets kidnapped, this causes Piplup to shout for help. Pikachu manages to rescue Shinx. Pikachu proposes them to join them, to which Piplup accept, but this is the start for them to finally open up to others. At first, Empoleon refused but after seeing his children make new friends, he accepts.
