Shaymin is a young Pokémon at the service to the goddess of nature, Xerneas. When he finally got the permission to go to the human world, he was overjoyed and couldn't wait to explore it, he then stumbles upon Kayden, which scared the both of them. Afraid of exposing the existence of his world, Shaymin retired home, unknowingly dragging Kayden with him. Knowing what happened, he and other guardians communicate the human boy turned riolu telepathically.
