Eleven years after the death of Caesar in War for The Planet of The Apes, his son Cornelius must consider whether he wishes to uphold his father's legacy in a commune that has begun to revere and remember Caesar as a god-like figure, despite the protests of the current (but aging) chief, Maurice. Amidst this conflict, a storm wavers on the horizon: a violent and nomadic band of intelligent apes, lead by an enormous and charismatic Eastern Lowland gorilla called Hannibal, is encroaching on their territory with a train of human slaves at its disposal. Among these slaves is a man called Ulysses, who seems different than the others, and forms an unlikely connection with Nova, the only human in Caesar's camp.
