Mitsuru Kirijo (桐条 美鶴, Kirijō Mitsuru) is the only child of the head of the Kirijo Group, Takeharu Kirijo. Beautiful and elegant, she is the school's top ranking valedictorian and student council president. Mitsuru has been battling Shadows since she was a little girl, as the unofficial leader of SEES. At the beginning of the story, she avoids battle and acts as a support character, offering analysis and advice.
