You view the story through the lense of a teenager named Alice. She is a cheerleader at her high school and the perfect teenage dream. But it slowly fades from teenage dream to romantic nightmare. You see how her romantic wants are manipulated and how every man around her only sees her as a sexual being. She loses friends and is sexually harassed almost everyday. Eventually she gets assaulted and tries to get help only to be turned away and told to stop obsessing over it. She tries to tell everyone about what happened but everyone makes excuses for him. Every interaction she has with men is full of anxiety. And for a little while she just goes back to normal, to a perfect teenager. And the day of her graduation she speaks as the valedictorian. She exposes everyone. She then is shamed publicly by everyone until she eventually overdoses and is then violated after her death by her only guy friend who she trusted.
