General Dru-Zod is a fictional character and supervillain who first appeared in American comic books published by DC Comics, created by Robert Bernstein and initially designed by George Papp. He is commonly shown to be an adversary of a fellow Kryptonian, Kal-El who is known on Earth as the superhero Superman.
Zod is a megalomaniacal Kryptonian warlord who was in charge of Krypton's military forces and has been acquainted with Jor-El, Superman's biological father. When a space program was abolished after the destruction of the inhabited moon Wegthor (engineered by renegade scientist Jax-Ur), he attempts to take over Krypton using an army of robotic duplicates of himself, all bearing a resemblance to Bizarro, which resulted in him being sentenced to exile in the Phantom Zone for his crimes. And like all Kryptonians, he acquires superpowers on planets under a yellow sun (e.g., Earth) and and is viewed as one of Superman's greatest enemies alongside Lex Luthor, Darkseid, and Brainiac.
