The reason for Scar's hatred of Mufasa was that when he was young, his father showed great favoritism to Mufasa, leaving Scar, who was originally called Taka, aside, repeatedly psychologically abusing the weakest of his children. As young people, Mufasa and Taka faced each other in a traditional duel to determine which of the two would be the new leader of the pack, Mufasa would win while Taka would be humiliated by the scar that Mufasa left him during the fight. Mufasa would try to help Scar, support him and try not to distance himself, prevent him from turning evil, but his efforts were in vain.
