Absolutely nothing whatsoever about Grodie is played for comedy. He quickly establishes himself as a dark, gloomy force of death and decay with clear involvement in two of the King-Ohgers' personal tragedies; his lackadaisical disregard for everything around him making him scary rather than weird.
