This 1965 psychological thriller directed by William Wyler and adapted from John Knowles' 1963 novel of the same name is about a lonely bank clerk named Freddie Clegg (Terence Stamp) who likes to collect butterflies. After winning a football pool, he uses the money to buy a farmhouse with a large stone-walled cellar. One day, he decides to "collect" something different: a young art student named Miranda Grey (Samantha Eggar), whom he fell in love with.
