He is a sinful demon and one of the many powerful Ars Lords of Hell, with powers based on voodoo magic. He is the evil and charismatic demon who offered to help John with his cases, even if only for his own amusement. In life, before being condemned to Hell, Hades was a popular showman in New Orleans and acted as a sadistic serial killer by night, until he died under mysterious circumstances. In Hell, Hades became one of the most powerful and feared sinners, killing other Overlords and broadcasting the screams of his enemies. He is characterized by a constant, disturbing smile, which he says serves to hide his true emotions. He rejects all forms of modern technology in favor of that of his time, to the point that he isolated himself, always preferring to get his news from newspapers. He has a historic rivalry with King Gamble, the Casino Demon, with whom he was once friends. Hades, bored and longing for a new form of entertainment, abandons Hell and moves to Earth, disappearing for seven years, opening a Voodoo Emporium called OCCULTUS SANCTORUM, where he begins collaborating with Detective John Quaid to solve crimes and cases, developing complex relationships and becoming more human as he faces demons (both literal and metaphorical) and various conflicts.
