After Xandar was attacked by Ronan the Accuser and his Kree followers, Nova Prime knew that Xandar needed a better defense for the planet but also for the power stone that they had acquired. Centurion Tanak valt found it a bad idea, as it would bring conflict, Nova Prime sent Rohmann dey and Ko-Rel to recruit a suitable carrier of this power. They witnessed human Richard Rider stand bravely against the space-criminal Diamondhead, who almost killed Rider if not for the Nova Corps. They imprisoned Diamondhead and recruited Rider. Rider was skeptical about the planet and the power he held, but accepted it. Suddenly, a large explosion went off on Xandar's capital building, killing Rohmann Dey and many other Xandarians. Richard was furious, and Nova Prime put the core on full alert to find the culprit. Rider and Ko-Rel teamed up to find the assailant, developing a romance. They discovered it was long-time loyal Centurion Titus who was consumed by greed and jealousy for the strength the power stone granted. Titus and Richard battled, with Rider not wanting any more damage defeated him and transported him to Kyln. Richard returns his helmet for a time to take a break from fighting. In the post credits, Nova Prime gives teenager Sam Alexander the helmet. The GOTG would also cameo and visit Xandar to check up on it after Titus' attack.
