Lord Garmadon has been working with the Overlord to create a stone army to destroy the ninja once and for all. Ever since discovering that Lloyd was the Green Ninja, the other four ninja have been training him so that he can defeat Garmadon when the time comes. Lloyd and the others go to the Dark Island, which they discover was once connected to Ninjago, to stop Lloyd's father.
