Ian David McShane (born 29 September 1942) is a English actor. His television performances include the title role in the BBC series Lovejoy (1986–1994), Al Swearengen in Deadwood (2004–2006) and its 2019 film continuation, and Mr. Wednesday in American Gods (2017–2021). For the original series of Deadwood, McShane won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama and received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. As a producer of the film, he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie. His film roles include Harry Brown in The Wild and the Willing (1962), Charlie Cartwright in If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium (1969), Wolfe Lissner in Villain (1971), Teddy Bass in Sexy Beast (2000), Frank Powell in Hot Rod (2007), Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), and Winston Scott in the John Wick franchise (2014–present). When a man named Red Harper's son Joel is taken by a shadow to another realm him and his friend Blake Black set up a trap for the shadow which ends in the shadow taking them. Once there the two land on a pirate ship where they are greeted by its captain James Rogers. James tells them of how if they want to escape the island they can't because there is a curse making it to where they can never leave Neverland and the only way to break the curse is to kill Neverland's ruler the Pan. He tells them the only way to kill him is to get dark fairy dust which. Throughout the season Red, Blake, and James try to find this pixie dust belonging to an old friend of James's named Tink. On the way to her they meet Felix Peter aka the Hatter who accompanies them. They also meet a kid named Jack who Pan wants dead for stealing his magic beans. Eventually they get the dust and get to Pan's lair a giant hollow and dying tree named the Den of Sin. Once inside Red, James, and Jack see that Pan isn't there but just the Jack cuts off James's hand and takes the dust. It turns out Jack is Pan, and he escapes. The rest of the season involves trying to restore the magic to Felix's hat with Pixie dust so they can trap Pan in it. Once they get the hat working, they go to Pan and have a final battle where James now with a hook for a hand sacrifices himself and gets trapped in the hat with Pan. The season ends with Red and Blake getting Red's son and then leaving with Felix who wanted to escape too.
