Gavan (Japanese: ギャバン | Hepburn: Gyaban) is the main protagonist of Uchuu Keiji Gavan. He is a Space Sheriff (Japanese: 宇宙うちゅう刑事けいじ | Hepburn: Uchū Keiji) who dispatched to Earth in a mission to protect the planet against the invading Makuu Empire by donning the alias of Retsu Ichijouji (Japanese: 一条寺いちじょうじ 烈れつ | Hepburn: Ichijōji Retsu).
