A formidable and fearless member of the Werwolf Squad, Rip Van Winkle is both a master sharpshooter and a fanatical soldier, wholly devoted to The Major's cause. Possessing an eerie, almost theatrical demeanor, she is as ruthless in battle as she is elegant in her mannerisms. Rip Van's obsession with opera, particularly Der Freischütz, influences her personality and combat style. She frequently hums or sings opera verses during battle, treating combat as a theatrical performance where she plays the role of the tragic villain. She identifies deeply with Caspar, a doomed character in Der Freischütz, believing her fate to be similarly sealed. She first encountered V in Moon Saga: The Dawn, and although she initially underestimated him, she was easily defeated and left with a deep-seated fear of him, especially after The Major compared V to Zamiel, the demon who drags Caspar to Hell.
