Nikolai is characterized by his quiet demeanor, except when he takes pleasure in gloating about his victories or mocking and demeaning his defeated enemies. He shares Dorotya's sadistic tendencies and enjoys inflicting both physical and psychological torture on others. Nikolai is also a masochist, deriving pleasure from pain, as evidenced by numerous scars on his body and the loss of his left eye, the origins of which remain mysterious.
