Seeking vengeance against Josuke Narukami and Shiroyasha, he drank the modified ochimizu and transforms into a Majin. He mentally torments Josuke under the influence of Arakaki, which causes Josuke to go berserk. He then fights both Josuke and Shiroyasha, with the latter putting Hanjiro back to his senses. Realizing that he was manipulated by the kiheitai, Hanjiro sees his quest for revenge as nothing more than a useless game and he commits a seppuku because he felt that he is unfit to kill Josuke
