Saya is the only daughter of the priest at the local shrine and was rumored to be the heiress to the now defunct Kisaragi clan. Saya was spoiled by her status as a recent successor to the Kisaragi clan and therefore became very immature, self-centered and rude. She herself realized this as a result of her friendships with Josuke and Satsuki, which help reveal and nurture her compassion for others. She and Josuke were childhood friends and even now they share a brother-sister relationship. After knowing about her mother's mysterious death, Saya lost her happy demeanor and becomes much more serious and plagued with doubts and guilt.
